Hi deepxw,
ReplyDeleteNice! Been looking for this for a while! Would this patch also work on Windows Server 2008?
Simon
I have not Win 2008 to test.
ReplyDeleteMost of the files of 2008 are same as Vista, You can have a try.
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI try this with Windows XP SP2 x64.
I didn't work correctly.
It patch OK.
But when i try to connect with remote desktop it logoff current window/user.
When i disconnect the remote desktop session. I can logon again.
more than 3 concurrent session limit is allowed?
ReplyDeleteis there possible some type of silent install? ...i would like to run this from command line... just add it to my .bat file
ReplyDeleteTo Phuong Pham:
ReplyDeleteSorry, I have not test in this version of Windows.
This patch is only a file patch.
You need to setup registry, GP, and more...
I will try to solve it in future.
To Beto Reyes:
ReplyDeleteYes.
To ARP:
ReplyDeleteIt will be added in next version.
Hi deepxw,
ReplyDeleteThis patch not work with Vista SP2 RTM (6002.18005) x86.
Please fix it.
To PavloN:
ReplyDeleteHi! Please upload the original file to http://rapidshare.com.
Or send the file to my e-mail.
Thanks!
Works perfectly on Vista SP2 RTM (6002.18005) x64! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteVery nice hack! Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteTrouble on Windows 7:
ReplyDeleteRemote desktop font size is set to 120 DPI and does not change.
If the Remote Desktop disconect (no logoff), it can not be over login.
How this can be repaired?
Great work on this patch!
ReplyDeleteDoes this patch incorporate the things that make terminal service work on Vista Home Premium?
If not, that would make it even more universal!
To Howking: I don't know.
ReplyDeleteI will do some test about it.
To your locutus: I will try to test it.
ReplyDeleteto deepxw: this problem was on built 7022, 7048, 7057, 7068, 7070, 7100. Build 7000 work correctly.
ReplyDeleteto deepxwthanx !
ReplyDeleteBut this patch must have silent install.
to deepxw and Phuong PhamFor XP SP2 change:
0x000225B7: 54 55 -> 20 55
For XP SP3 change:
0x00022692: F4 -> C0
This will change pointer from string AllowMultipleTSSessions to EnableConcurrentSessions.
Also add to the Registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"EnableConcurrentSessions"=dword:00000001
to deepxw
ReplyDeletewhat means these parameters:
-silent, -path, -nt61, -deepscan ?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteYou don't say anything about these .reg files - do we need to enter them into the registry? Are they for Vista and XP only and we don't need to run it in Win7?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI've used this patch and now the remote destop service will not start on vista x64 SP1. It returns "Error 5: Access denied". any ideas, please.
The vista registry file works in windows 7
ReplyDeleteHi Tried UniversalTermsrvPatch-x86.exe on Vista Home Premium SP2 (RTM) and found that it doesn't work. If i try on Vista Home Premium SP1 it works. Any change of an update?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hard work!
Cheers,
Darren
Please make this work on Home Premium for Vista SP2 released today. I am relying on you buddy!!! You're the best! I'm not going SP2 until I can remote into my Home Premium machine like under SP1
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for the patch, but its not fully working for me on Vista SP2 x64.
ReplyDeleteI only have one one user account on my computer. My understanding is that setting fSingleSessionPerUser to 0 would allow me to have multiple sessions with that one account.
I have double checked my settings and it is set to 0, but it only logins into the "console" session. Am I missing something?
Hi deepxw,
ReplyDeletegreat work, I've installed it on my Windows 7 RC1, build 7100.
I was under the impression that the local user could log on as user A, and that a remote user can also log on as user A. This is obviously not the case as a result of my misunderstanding.
What I do want to ask is: is this going to be possible in the near future?
Thanks a lot.
On Vista x64 XP2, this only works to the extent that multiple concurrent sessions of unique users is allowed. It will not allow a user to have more than one login however. That worked fine for me in Vista x64 SP1 with a manually hex-edited termsrv.dll. I would regularly have 3 sessions in that case: UserA-Console, UserA-RDP, UserB-RDP. Now, UserA cannot have console and RDP sessions simultaneously. I have tried the vista.reg as well as group policy modification. Neither has worked and neither was required in the case of Vista64 SP1. I can only conclude that the problem lies in the nature of the patch.
ReplyDeleteTo deepxw:
ReplyDeleteI have not had any luck with Home Prem SP1, any ideas? The patch is applied, but can not RDP in.
Tried on 7137, but doesn't work. If there any plan to update for this Version ?
ReplyDeletesorry, my mistake ... 7137 is ok with 20090425 release
ReplyDeleteThe SP1 termsrv.dll posted here works with SP2. You just need to reregister it after the SP2 install
ReplyDeletehttp://www.unet.fi/fransblog/2007/08/30/enable-remote-desktop-connection-on-vista-home-premium/
K
For those using Vista x64 SP2 and wanting multiple simultaneous logins from the same user (not taking over the console session) just use your previously patched/working x64 SP1 termsrv.dll. It worked great for me. I'm just glad I had saved off my "termsrv.dll.patched" from SP1.
ReplyDeleteI continue to have problems with any patched dll, and have lost the original termsrv.dll in x64 Vista SP2. Would someone mind sending me a copy so I can start from scratch again, and ensure it is working?
ReplyDeleteWould someone post a download, or private message me where I can find it?
Thanks,
Hi everyone!
ReplyDeleteI have used on the xp and vista the missing remote's hack. But now I have win7 x64, but I can't find the termsrv.dll in the "c:/windows/system32" folder. I found that file in the "C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-t..teconnectionmanager_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7100.0_none_5bb0d5ad61b759e1" folder. I replaced the termsrv.dll under the ubuntu, but the second user cannot use the computer.
Somebody can help me? I use the win7 build 7100 from Microsoft webpage.
Hi deepxw
ReplyDeleteMy Windows is Vista Home Premium x86 SP2
After patch it is listening on port 3389, but don't connect and don't show erros message.
Thank you
Alex
Hi, someone have this problem?
ReplyDeleteTime to time after close and open rdp sessions remotely the machine (XP SP2, PIV 3.0Ghz, 1 Gb Ram)that is patched stop to logon users, without errors, put the user and pass and can't logon. The same if you try in the rdp clients. I think is something about the way XP user session memory. Any ideas?

ReplyDeleteHey there - I'm in a bit of a squeeze and was wondering if anyone can help. I patched termsrv.dll with a batch file that I found on remotedesktoprdp.com and now I can't connect via RDP at all. In the services control panel, the service "TermService" isn't started - it shows Failed to Read Description. Error Code 2.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen this before, or know how to fix it? I would live with even just one RDP session at this point...
Thanks,
Tom
Patch worked great on Windows 7 x64.
ReplyDeleteHi, deepxw
ReplyDelete64x SP2 Vista Home Prem -- said my sys was already patched. How do I get rid of previous termsrv.dll patch from a different hack?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI tried the same thing on a _german_ installation of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 without success.
Did anybody get it to work on w2k3 at all?
cu
mathias
Does this hack also work for Windows 7 Home Premium ? I ask this because this version of Windows 7 does not have the "Remote Desktop Host" feature available (Pro and Ultimate have it).
ReplyDeleteI'm currently using Win XP Pro SP3 with the termsrv.dll hack enabled and it works fine.
I've purchased Win 7 Home Premium and want to know if I have to upgrade to Pro or Ultimate if I want multiple concurrent logon to my PC.
Thanks for your help
works perfeclty fine on Windows 7 RTM Professional x64. thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThis works perfectly on Win7 Ultimate RTM x86
ReplyDeleteOk, we know now that this hack works with Windows 7 RTM Pro or Ultimate.
ReplyDeleteDoes it also work with the Home premium version ?
I noticed that the patch when opened goes out to "phone home" on a couple servers 207.114.197.72 and 207.114.197.80... Is this by design? If so why?
ReplyDeleteHow this patch works with Windows File Protection? Does anyone from here noticed this warning during initialisation? Thanks for reply.
ReplyDeleteWill this work on windows server 2003?
ReplyDeleteI want more than 3 users to login
Hi, has anyone tested it on Win 7 whilst connected to a domain?
ReplyDeleteJust ran on Win 7 Pro Build 7600 and worked like a charm.
ReplyDeleteI quickly tested this today on a server domain...It works!
ReplyDeleteWorks on my Vista Sp2 x64.
ReplyDeleteSame question as Regis: has anyone managed to get W7 Home Premium working??
ReplyDeleteWin XP Pro SP3 patch doesn't work
ReplyDeletetermsrv.dll ver 5.1.2600.5512
only one concurrent connection is working - like no patch at all...
OK, I've just tested with W7 Home Premium and it does NOT work.
ReplyDeleteProbably because W7 Home does not include the RDP host (W7 Pro and Ultimate include RDP host).
So, we first need a hack to enable RDP host on W7 Home editions, like the one that already exists for Vista Home premium (http://www.unet.fi/fransblog/2007/08/30/enable-remote-desktop-connection-on-vista-home-premium/).
Waiting for such a hack, I'm keeping Win XP Pro.
Windows 2008 Server - works great...

Me too. The same case.
Hi again. I´m the previous anonymous... :)
ReplyDeleteThe problem is solved. The registry file for XP was not applied making "Click" in the patch aplication. I had to combine manually after.
Anyway thks at all to deepxw...
Mh. For me it doesn't work with Windows 7 Final Home Premium. The client doesn't connect! It tries to connect for a split second and just cancels. A connection is established (as seen in TCPView) for that split second though.
ReplyDeleteRdesktop (the Linux thing) just says
ERROR: modulus len 0x108
Initially, then
ERROR: send: Result too large
for every pixel I move my mouse inside the window or every keyboard hit.
Worked for me!! Windows 7 Ultimate, XP SP2 and XP SP3.
ReplyDeleteDream patch this one!!
Whats the user limit though? Any one know??
Worked on Windows 7 Ultimate 7600(final). Even Remote Desktop of Win XP worked :-)
ReplyDeleteI have gone through three separate patches and all have been unsuccessful thus far. My box is a windows xp sp3 fully updated. I have just run this patch and am encountering the same result. After applying the patch and rebooting I am still unable to get two simultaneous connections/logins, when another user wants to login the current user that is logged in gets logged off. Please help :)
ReplyDeleteI may also want to say that I have also tried editing the group policy by enabling remote connections and setting the max user limit to 999999. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLook at this:
ReplyDeletehttp://thegreenbutton.com/forums/t/79427.aspx
It finally worked for me (Windows 7 Home Premium x86 French Retail DVD)
The one on Green Button works instantly for Home Premium x64!!!!
ReplyDeleteHI,
ReplyDeletedoesy this patch also work for domain members?

ReplyDeleteI have Windows 7 Ultimate and was wondering how to do the following;
ReplyDeletewhen I login remotely using thin client I want the clear text type settings to automatically be set in use, when I check the settings onthe Host PC they are in use but when I log in from thin client I have to manually select these settings but it will not allow me to save them from the remote thin client?????????? Also when I set RDP file to use windows backgound on desktop it does at first but then when I log out and then back in again its a plain black desktop??????? Any help appreciated.
Just a heads up - Windows 7 Professional Edition (32 bit). Works perfectly as I can now log in with 2 sessions (different users). That's all I needed. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWorks on windows Seven version 6.1 (#7600).
ReplyDeleteMany thanks :)
Confirmed; works on Windows Server 2008 x64. Thank you! What's your PayPal? I want to send this stooge some cash!
ReplyDeleteon an SBS 2008 premium DC, i set up an XP SP3 VM within the HYPER-V console, joined it to the domain and ran this patch.
ReplyDeleteunfortunately, it doesn't seem to work. i tried logging with non-domain user accounts as well. it bumps off the other user exactly as normal. i'd love to be able to get this to work.
Anyone who failed with this patch on XP Sp3, please use ts_multiple_sessions.bat from this site:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/13/enable-multiple-concurrent-remote-desktop-connections-or-sessions-in-windows-xp/
I've successed.
1. Run Universal Termsrv.dll Patch V1.0b.
2. Run multiple_sessions.bat
3. Reboot your PC.
as ptcat said it works on windows xp sp3 only if you apply the .bat batch reported here http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/13/enable-multiple-concurrent-remote-desktop-connections-or-sessions-in-windows-xp/
ReplyDeletePATCH WORK PERFECT!!! Must doing 3 steps: 1.run patcher, 2.set needs registry records, 3.set group policy Only run patcher = multiple simultanous connect with remote desktop didn't work!!! For example read this workaround for XP (testing on aktual XP sp3 with all hotfix).
ReplyDeleteError on version 5.1.2600.5815 russian sp3 (
ReplyDeleteptcat's post wroks) Thanks

Superb! Works a treat on XPSP2 and Vista SP2.
ReplyDeleteGreat job.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteIt is not working for XP SP 3, please help me how to fix this in SP3.
Looking for help/confirmation that simply restoring/renaming the termsrv.dll.backup created from the Install.cmd utility will put me back to original state? No worries about additional registry entries?
ReplyDeleteI would prefer to use this utility and there is no restore option in install.cmd utility.
THANKS!!! WORKING UNDER WINDOWS SERVER 2008 R2 x64!!!
ReplyDeleteHello everyone!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately it doesn't work with Windows Server 2003 SP2...

ReplyDeleteThanks , Works like a charm on Win R2 !!!!Thank u very much!!
ReplyDeletehow remote install the patch ? please
ReplyDeleteThanks - my RDP was broken after trying a different multi term hack on Vista Buisness 32 Bit SP2. Couldnt even get single session to work, servioce failed to load, even with old dll re-installed.
ReplyDeleteRan this patch - all was well - thank you!
Hi I am using windows server 2008 r2 standard. I ran this program, and 4 did a remote desktop connection. Do you want 90 days after the terminal server license if you open it
ReplyDeletehey is this still working for the most common types of windows win xp sp2, sp3 windows vista and 7 thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks dude,,, you rule... this area at least!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteit works on Windows Server 2008 but you can't instal teminal services just run the patch
ReplyDeleteIf you have the same user on another pc it will be disconnected but you can chabge that on windows profile. Then the objective is to be multiuser... If you run your profile its cool to have allways the same desktop if you change this its like to have 2 users with the same name...
Can you tell me, how do I get the request to the remote terminal by the User. I enter the screen to direct it.
ReplyDeleteCould you tell me where, what flag do I modify the registry or adds.

ReplyDeleteHi deepwx. I have win7 7600 and this patch is not working for same user on multiple sessions. Please let me know if you have fix for it. I don't know how to edit dll files...
ReplyDeletethanks a lot :) it works for server 2008 as well
ReplyDeleteGreat tool, thanks. I hope you will get back to work soon :)
ReplyDeleteI have Win 7 Pro and the patch says successful. I get "Your computer could not connect to another console session on the remote computer because you already have a console session in progress." Seems not to be working. Have gone through this forum and found nothing helps. What to do?

ReplyDeleteGreat tool. I used the patch with windows 7 and it is working brilliantly. This is great man. You sort out one of big problem. Working good with server 2008 as well.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, It doesn't work under windows 2003 sbs sp2. I executed with admin rights, but the patch button was disabled. Can you help me?
ReplyDeleteI am thoroughly convinced in this said post. I am currently searching for ways in which I could enhance my knowledge in this said topic you have posted here. It does help me a lot knowing that you have shared this information here freely. I love the way the people here interact and shared their opinions too. I would love to track your future posts pertaining to the said topic we are able to read.
ReplyDeleteHi deepxw,
ReplyDeleteI've tried v1.0.0.5 with Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, 64 bit (build 7600) and it works correctly.
But I have realized that, although my computer has 24 Gb, after applying the patch, the reported physical memory is 8 Gb.
Restoring the original termsrv.dll, the physical memory is 24 Gb again.
Do you have any idea on how to solve it?
An interesting article about this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749978.aspx
Not working with the new windows 7 64 SP1... is it fixable?
ReplyDeleteAfter installing SP1 for Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on several machines, the Patch had to be reinstalled. After Reboot it is doing it's job without any difficulties. You may run it with admin-privileges...
ReplyDeleteNot workin in win7 SP1, you can revision?.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Not working Windows 7 SP1. Waiting update...
ReplyDeleteI've used the Universal Termsrv.dll Patch (x64) v1.0.0.5 after installing the SP1 of W7 (64bits) and is working right (like before the SP1). The termsrv.dll version is 6.1.7601.17514. The original checksum was 000AC856-1 and after patched is 000A7829-9.
ReplyDeleteJavier
I's like to confirm... Really working with W7SP1...
ReplyDeleteJust one question...
When I open the task manager, and right click to any user session, why menu point is grayed out?
How can I fix it?
Thanks!!!!
For windows xp in a domain, after installing the patch and running the reg file, also do the following:
ReplyDeletelog on with an administrator account
control panel/planned tasks
add new task
browse for c:\windows\system32\reg.exe
give task a name eg "EnableMultipleTSUsers"
When computer is booted
user: SYSTEM
toggle on advanced
change the path to run to:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\reg.exe add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v AllowMultipleTSSessions /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
Finish
reboot machine
Not effect for me with windows 7 SP1 x64 :-)
ReplyDeleteWas using this patch very happily for the past year with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - no problems. Now, the patch appears to apply successfully to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1. However, I no longer have the ability to do multiple concurrent sessions from the same user account. I do not want my remote session to take over the running console session. That is what is happening right now. Anyone else seeing this? I checked and fSingleSessionPerUser is set to 0. Hasn't changed since pre-SP1. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNice post, I would like to request you to one more post about that Keep it up
ReplyDeleteThis Universal patch should be helpful, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the explanation. I will save your blog for I learn more.
ReplyDeletethanks
Does not work on Windows 2008 Web x64 (maybe it's german edition).
ReplyDeleteDLL version: 6.0.6002.18005
It says patched successfully, but it's not working after reboot, I still can login only with 2 users.
Checksum is 8F490-1
on the patched file it's 8EEE7-9.
I can provide the termsrv.dll if needed!
The "silent" parameter doesn't work, always show the "right click" dialog to break it.

I had used XP patch on sp2.. was working fine with RDP device. Now I just bought Ncomputing L300 and when I installed Vspace software to run ncomputing...Machine keeps on restarting whenever you press logon button on startup.. tried to put up original termserv.dll then also no difference...can you suggest me what should i do next to make sure ncomputing works..Can you suggest me as what can I do next to put back the changes which Universal patch had made earlier...I mean original settings before running universal patch.
ReplyDeleteHowdy guys! Everything is works perfectly, except the remote control (cannot use when logon locally)
ReplyDeleteYes, good question... why grayed out remote control when I logged in locally? Of course... Windows 7 x64 professional SP1

ReplyDeleteTry a "Frankenbuild". You take the .DLL from the previous version and put it in the same location after renaming the unpatchable version. Bootable CD like Win7 disc/Linux/UBCD4Win is needed, though.
A better idea is to find where in the new file they have that code and make a new signature for the author to look for. Sadly, this takes some skill/experience.
